I don’t know how it’ll work for me. I get it.

Addiction to struggle and suffering ran my life for decades. I grew up hearing my grandmother say that she hadn’t lived a day for herself. Programmes of martyrdom and self-sacrifice permeated my whole being. Somehow suffering was glorified, you were a better person for it, and, of course, I wanted to be a good person and get the love of my family. At some unconscious level, I made things so much more difficult that they needed to be. It’s as if they added validity to my achievements.

Letting go of this pattern and the identity attached to it wasn’t easy, because my whole sense of worth was hinging on this behaviour. My body was addicted to adrenalin and cortisol, so it took time to heal and for my system to relax but it’s so worth it. There’s no drama in my life now. I don’t need it to feel alive.

And that’s exactly why I’ve created this 3-hour masterclass.

What does it take to heal from addiction to struggle and suffering?

 

Step 1. Find your purpose

Sometimes addiction to suffering is driven by a lack of purpose. It’s as if winning the struggle gives you a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Standing still doesn’t feel safe or satisfying. You have to keep pushing to feel alive.

Step 2. Heal abandonment

The abandonment wound is at the heart of struggle and suffering. You feel that if let go of this pattern, you would no longer fit in with people that you love. Healing this wound can create true connections.

 

Step 3. Heal numbness

It’s inevitable that you numb down when things are hard. In some ways, struggle makes you feel alive. It gives you reason to strive and push. When you heal the suppressed emotions underneath numbness you can feel your true aliveness.

Step 4. Reclaim your worth

Behind struggle and suffering is deep unworthiness. It’s as if you don’t deserve good things in life. Everything has to come through hard work. You learn that suffering dignifies your experience: it’s worth doing if it’s hard. You are worthy of ease.
