What Swimming Has Got To Do With Trust?
Do you remember when you were learning to swim? (if you don’t swim just think of watching someone do it for the first time).
Have you noticed how at the start you hold on for dear life: you may be holding on to your teacher, your parent, the side of the pool…. You simply don’t trust that water can take your weight.
That’s exactly what you do in life.
When you don’t feel held, you hold on, because there’s no trust.
If you don’t feel
that life will support you,
that other people have your back,
that you’ve got what it takes to accomplish whatever you want,
you’ll tend to hold on to the old stuff.
For some people it’s very literal – you might be holding on to stuff that you no longer use, because you don’t believe that life will provide, that you’ll have all your needs met. For others, it's more subtle. You may not be even aware that you're running these patterns.
If this is true for you you, please, be gentle with yourself. Some of this wounding is very young, so we run these patterns at deeply unconscious level.
So let's explore what you're holding onto and where in your life does this show up?
Is it old ideas, outdated beliefs, childhood hurts?
This holding on can have physical manifestation, for example, excess weight, constipation or tension in certain parts of your body.
It could show up as withholding of information or not speaking your truth.
You are likely to hold down suppressed emotions, such as anger and rage, because you don’t trust other people’s reactions.
Once you start exploring, you might be amazed at how much you’re holding on in your mind, your physical body, and your environment.
Ready to let go?
I’m sure you have tried to deal with the symptoms of this issue, such as decluttering, loosing weight, trying better nutrition to help your gut...
How about addressing what’s deeper than that and Tuning Into Trust with me on 28 April at 6:00-9:00pm UK time. Here's the link to join me live: www.gularavincent.co.uk/trust
P.S. There are still places on my 5-week ‘I Am Enough’ course, if you want to join us live.
Here's what Debbie said about her experience of this course. Here are the course details: www.gularavincent.co.uk/i-am-enough
P.P.S. In my experience, attending my next retreat can give you a deep sense of safety and trust. The work I do rewires your whole nervous system. The next retreat is on 15-18 June and there are only a few places left.
