Make it Consistent

This month, I’m exploring four Ms of successful marketing. If you missed my first post on market (your ideal audience), you can find it here: www.gularavincent.co.uk/blog/market

Today’s theme is messaging.

I must admit, I’ve learnt about consistency of messaging through trial and error. Because I couldn’t settle on one audience, I kept shifting between the themes I explored. I started as a momentum coach for writers, helping them to let go of the writer’s block. I quickly realised that there was no such thing as the writer’s block. People got stuck because they had some form of childhood trauma. So I cut the middle man and spoke about childhood trauma. Then I had so many clients coming to me with childhood sexual trauma that I decided to address the issue head on. That one was harder to share on socials though because their bots didn’t like certain words, so I reverted to more generalised trauma healing approach.

Although my themes shifted around, the core message was always the same: let me help you to get unstuck.

Having said that, if my audience is writers, what I share in my posts is different from the topic of sexual trauma. If you’re not consistent with your messaging people get confused.

I notice it for myself. I was following someone for a while, who had changed direction many times and my subconscious response to these changes was: ‘Well, decide who you are already and then stick to it.’

Consistent messaging is the key for people to see you as an authority in a certain field. Yes, we can say many things, but the art of saying the same thing in many different ways is what gets you recognised.

Sometimes, there can be a massive block in sharing your message: what do I even say to get heard in the noisy world of marketing? If you have any childhood trauma around feeling misunderstood, it’s likely to impact your messaging. If you learnt to bite your tongue and say what other people want to hear, your marketing is likely to have a limited success.

Let me help you to heal this core wounding so that whatever you say to your ideal clients has such a strong resonance that they can’t help but say ‘yes’. Sometimes you can spend an inordinate amount of time and energy perfecting each word. What if it’s not about the meaning necessarily but the energy you put out in your messaging?
